In Memoriam

Michael P. Morrison, Esq. – Mike was an attorney and Statehouse lobbyist since 1985, and one of the Founding Partners of Government Advantage Group in 2007. Mike loved lobbying and was a presence around Capitol Square for many years. Mike was well respected because of his demeanor and approachability, his willingness to work with people, to mentor younger lobbyist, and maintain the integrity of the institution. That belief led him to become a member of the Ohio Lobbying Association (OLA) Board of Director’s, serving as President in 2014. In 2015, Mike received the OLA Presidents Award, awarded annually to one individual for outstanding service to the lobbying profession.

Since 2013, Mike bravely battled pancreatic cancer. When he succumbed to the disease in March 2016, the Partners of Government Advantage Group, Kevin Futryk, Amanda Sines, and John Singleton, wanted to do something to memorialize Mike and his contribution to the lobbying profession. Mike loved to golf. As a fitting tribute to his passion for the lobbying profession and his love for golf, we worked with the OLA to create the Mike Morrison Memorial Open. Proceeds from this annual event will go towards helping to underwrite the two (2) scholarships the OLA awards annually to students of the John Glenn School of Public Policy at the Ohio State University. A fitting tribute to our dear friend & colleague.
